Dr Branwen Morgan is a science journalist and enthusiast having completed several science degrees including a PhD in neuroscience. She also has extensive communications and digital experience that has helped in delivering STEM Explorer. With two children at primary school, Branwen knows how attractive technology is and wanted to help deliver a game that improves their STEM knowledge and learning ability.
Brian Powyer has dealt with his fair share of school students having been a former school principal. He has held executive roles in the NSW Department of Education where he also assisted with curriculum development. Brian continues to mentor and support executive teachers aspiring to be principals. He has been widely recognised for his service to education and brings his considerable teaching knowledge to the STEM Explorer team.
Joel McInnes is an experienced entrepreneur and business leader with 15 years of experience in investment banking and financial services. He is a co-founder of Flex Careers, a company that seeks to provide ‘flexible working’ for mothers who want to maintain or re-establish their careers. This business led him to question the myths around gender equality and highlighted the lack of women in STEM-based careers. Joel hopes that the STEM Explorer learning app will help to keep girls – he has three under ten - interested in science.
Marko Njavro has spent the majority of his career in senior investment banking roles with Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank in Sydney. During his MBA studies, he developed a keen interest in social impact entrepreneurial projects and became fascinated with using technology to create a level playing field with respect to education. Marko is the chief STEM Explorer evangelist and has used his research and interest in learning and knowledge to create a unique learning app. He is also a co-founder of Flex Careers.
